MVPete Camp Lights Up Las Vegas with Pete Mickeal and Prolific Prep Alumni Sekou Toure and Ali Koroma

Las Vegas, NV – July 11, 2025 — Under the blazing desert sun, the bright lights of Las Vegas and the NBA Summer League weren’t the only things shining. The annual MVPete Basketball Camp, founded by international basketball legend Pete Mickeal, took center stage, bringing together aspiring pro players and NBA/G-League scouts from around the globe.

This year’s event was more than just a showcase—it was a symbol of opportunity, persistence, and the power of preparation. Among the many talented players in attendance, two names stood out: Sekou Toure and Ali Koroma, both alumni of Prolific Prep and The Grind Session, each chasing their Full Court Dream of playing professionally.

Pete Mickeal: The Global Basketball Architect

Pete Mickeal’s basketball résumé is the stuff of legends. A second-round pick in the 2000 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks, Mickeal never played an NBA game, but that didn’t stop him from crafting one of the most successful overseas careers of any American player. He is a 2010 EuroLeague Champion with FC Barcelona, a 12-time ACB Cup winner, and a Junior College Hall of Famer with two national titles at Indian Hills.

Now retired from playing, Mickeal is the President of Mickeal Sports Group (MSG) and founder of the Myrtle Beach International Combine, helping to bridge the gap between overlooked talent and professional opportunities. With NBA scouting stints for the Timberwolves and Wizards, Pete now channels his energy into helping athletes get noticed—and signed.

“We have NBA scouts here in attendance—Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers—as well as G-League and international teams from Taiwan and China. We promote the players, and these scouts are here looking for talent,” Mickeal said.

Ali Koroma: From Sierra Leone to Center Stage

Ali Koroma, originally from Sierra Leone, sharpened his skills at Prolific Prep, where he competed on The Grind Session circuit. After high school, Koroma earned a degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and used his COVID year at the University of Portland. Now, he’s ready for the next chapter.

“Playing at Prolific Prep showed me how to be a D1 student-athlete,” Ali said. “We had study hall, a weight room, practice routines—everything I later had in college. I was more prepared than many of my teammates.”

Ali’s Full Court Dream?

“To play in the NBA.”

And he’s doing everything possible to make that dream a reality.

“I came to MVPete to show scouts from the NBA and overseas that I can play at the next level.”

Sekou Toure: The Persistent Grinder from Guinea

Like Koroma, Sekou Toure also honed his game at Prolific Prep and The Grind Session. Originally from Guinea, Sekou graduated from UC Santa Barbara and has now been out of college for two years. But his hunger is still strong.

“My goal in coming here is to get as many eyes as possible on me,” Sekou said. “To show what I can do and hopefully get signed. I’m 25, still grinding, and I’m going to keep pushing. I love the game, and my dream is still to get to the NBA.”

Reflecting on his time with Prolific Prep and the Grind Session, Sekou credited the experience with preparing him for college success.

“Prolific is more like college than high school. You travel, train, recover, study—it mirrors college life. I didn’t struggle as a freshman at UCSB because I had already done the work on the Grind Session. That competition gets you ready.”

Full Court Dreams in Motion

The MVPete Camp wasn’t just another workout. It was a powerful reminder of what can happen when preparation meets opportunity. With NBA personnel watching courtside and international scouts in attendance, players like Sekou and Ali took full advantage of the spotlight.

Pete Mickeal’s vision is clear: build a platform where under-the-radar talent can shine, and where dreams—like those of Koroma and Toure—can take one step closer to becoming reality.

For Ali and Sekou, their Full Court Dream is still very much alive.

And thanks to MVPete, that dream may be closer than ever.
