By Full Court Dream Staff
The NBA has officially dropped the full schedule for the 2025–26 season, and it’s packed with star-studded matchups, high-profile reunions, and historic milestones. The action tips off Tuesday, October 21, 2025, with a blockbuster doubleheader that could set the tone for the entire season.
Game 1 – Houston Rockets at Oklahoma City Thunder
7:30 p.m. ET | NBC, Peacock
The defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder will raise their first championship banner as they host none other than Kevin Durant—now a Houston Rocket. Durant’s return to OKC comes nearly a decade after his controversial 2016 departure, adding extra fire to a matchup already brimming with Western Conference championship implications.
Game 2 – Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers
10 p.m. ET | NBC, Peacock
Two icons—LeBron James, entering his record-breaking 23rd season, and Stephen Curry, in his 37-year-old prime—square off for their 56th career meeting. James holds the edge in regular-season wins (14-13), while Curry has dominated in the postseason. With both teams projected to fight for similar playoff seeding, every bucket could matter.
NBC Is Back — and Streaming on Peacock
For the first time in over two decades, NBA games return to NBC, with more than 100 games also streaming on Peacock. The nostalgia factor for longtime fans is huge, but so is the accessibility for the league’s next generation of viewers.
New Faces, New Places
This season will see plenty of familiar stars in fresh uniforms:
- Kevin Durant – Houston Rockets
- Chris Paul – Back with the LA Clippers
- Myles Turner – Milwaukee Bucks
- Kristaps Porzingis – Atlanta Hawks
Reunion games will be must-see television, especially when these veterans return to their old stomping grounds.
Rookies Ready for the Spotlight
The league’s top draft picks waste no time in delivering high-profile matchups. No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and No. 2 pick Dylan Harper will face each other in opening week when the Dallas Mavericks meet the San Antonio Spurs—with Victor Wembanyama ready to make life miserable for both.
